WHAT'S AIKIDO?

AIKIDO was created by Morihei Ueshiba, well known as O'Sensei (meaning Great Master). O'Sensei, an expert in different martial arts, created AIKIDO in order to teach others how to learn to develop their maximum potential, fiscally and mentally. The word AIKIDO can be translated as "the way (Do) to unify (Ai) all our inner energy (Ki)".

One of the most important principles of AIKIDO is the one that says that mind and body are one. When people act knowing this principle, can develop great power. All AIKIDO movements are circular by nature, needing flexibility, equilibrium and the “feeling” itself, there’s no need to enter in conflict with the opponent's strength. If the attack is confronted with these movements, it’s possible to take control of the strength that the opponent is using and redirect it in a safe and effective way. The practice also includes the learning of the way for a right and safe fall in order to protect the body.

AIKIDO techniques do not combine strength against strength; because of this the person doesn’t need to be strong to begin the practice. Even though, all the techniques are used in a defensive way and the person doesn’t need too have an aggressive personality. During the AIKIDO practice you’ll become a strong person, will develop security and great power in your movements.

AIKIDO practice works between two persons, due to this fact it gives you the opportunities to learn from another person and vice versa. This concepts define the daily practice and make the Dojo (practice place) a very comfortable and healthy place to be.

AIKIDO is good for your body, mind, soul, and heart. And most important, it’s fun. It's been said AIKIDO has the power of changing people in a positive way.
